The Check Up
Preventive Medicine (check-ups) has become increasingly important within our society.
This has led MultiMedica, propelled by its continuous focus on ensuring adequate health safeguarding and illness prevention requirements, to implement also in this area constantly updated and customized healthcare protocols.
With our check-up it is therefore possible to: assess personal and hereditary risk factors for primary diseases trying to correct, wherever possible, incorrect behavioral patterns, as well as performing early pre-clinical diagnoses so as to provide appropriate medical treatment before the generally more serious symptomatic phase.
Therefore, standard protocols no longer exist – check-up programs are designed and completely customized for each patient, based on their clinical, familial and personal history.
Preventive medicine is considered a cross specialty, to be leveraged by all specialties within the MultiMedica’s IRCCS in Sesto.
However, its greatest expression is found in the cardiovascular and oncology areas.
In the first case, it can help correct unhealthy habits that may lead to plurimetabolic syndrome (excessive weight, hyperlipidemia, arterial hypertension), helping, in part, to prevent of the cardiac pathologies.
As regards oncology, neoplasia prevention, including mammary, intestinal, gynecological, thyroidal and pulmonary, is still the most successful method to considerably reduce the mortality rates for these diseases.
In particular, the results achieved in the past 20 years regarding mammary neoplasia have been truly encouraging.
To achieve these objectives, we have eliminated some of the “so called” tumor markers without meaning in early neoplasia diagnosis, previously included in check-up protocols, while introducing some additional instrumental tests providing more indicative data and designed to respond to patients’ requirements.
