In February 2000 a group of MultiMedica physicians and managers founded the MultiMedica Oncology Association (l’Associazione Oncologica di MultiMedica) based in Sesto San Giovanni; in July 2003 this association was recognized as a Nonprofit organization (Organizzazione Non Lucrativa di Utilità Sociale - O.N.L.U.S.).
The Association works on a voluntary basis, is nonpolitical and nonprofit; the President is Dr. Ornella Gottardi and the Vice President is Professor Valerio Cerini.
The goal of this Association is to bring together people who have shared and share with their loved ones the suffering and problems caused by an oncologic disease, and those who are faced daily with difficult situations requiring, in addition to strength and courage, specific and continuously updated knowledge. |
The Associations objectives are:
- help with the research and development of medical and surgical oncologic activities, encourage and stimulate professional updates, diagnostic methodologies and innovative treatments.
- establish collaboration relationships between hospital facilities and patients, Institutes, local Associations and General Practice Physicians.
To achieve these objectives the Association drives for:
- connections to National and International Research Centers to share experiences and to help fine-tune the professional expertise of MultiMedica employees
- funding research programs
- financial support and organization of conferences, meetings and events hosted in MultiMedica facilities
- organizing and providing financial support to set up meetings with patients, their families, General Practice Physicians, Institutions and local Associations
The Oncology Association achieves its goals by leveraging funds from a variety of sources: donations, endowments, oblations, contributions and funding from public and private organizations, as well as from affiliates.
The Association needs many supporting Friends (Amici) to help achieve the established objectives with a simple subscription or a freely chosen contribution.
