Admission from ER
Our emergency room department has been accredited by the Lombardy Region as DEA (Dipartimento di Emergenza e Accettazione - Emergency/urgency and Admission Department). It is located on the first floor of the admissions unit and directly connected with the entire emergency area (surgery area, Intensive care, Acute care Radiology and Hemodynamic rooms). The Emergency Department ensures emergency high specialty functions including, cardiac surgery, Coronary Treatment Unit, Hemodynamics, vascular surgery, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, and general medicine. The DEA also provides the procedures required to clinically stabilize patients in case of patients requiring specialty procedures that are not included in the facilities accreditations.
TRIAGE Code
The “Triage” system is a process through which DEA patients are selected and classified based on the type and level of urgency of their condition; it should not be confused with the medical examination, as the goal of the triage is specifically to determine the priority level assigned to patients prior to a physical examination. Therefore, it represents the first moments of a patient’s entry and evaluation and is usually performed by specific nursing staff. The critical code levels are divided in four categories, as per the following definitions:
red code
highly critical immediately life threatening condition; highest priority access level |
yellow code
urgent but not immediately life threatening condition; high priority access level |
green code
Less critical condition; low access priority |
white code
not critical condition. This code is assigned to patients requesting healthcare services that are not urgent and should be handled by other departments (ambulatory). These patients should go through the emergency department and are therefore charged the Ticket
