Building on Quality in the healthcare world for us means not only respecting an inalienable ethical principle, but also accomplishing constant growth in terms of revenue and, most importantly, as regards the quality and diversity of delivered services.
Tangible results of this approach are the continuous improvements and updates of technological devices and equipment (in OR’s, for diagnostics, labs), of medical-surgical methodologies and management processes across organizations, in addition to constantly training and updating of medical, nursing and administrative staff.
Diagnostic Imaging
With its 4 Radiology Centers, two of which are highly sophisticated, MultiMedica Group’s diagnostic services are among the most advanced within the Lombardy region.
Overall, in addition to multiple traditional Radiology room, the group has 15 Ultrasound CT scanners, 3 spiral CT scanners, 4 Hemodynamic monitoring systems, and 5 MRI systems (two are high field) enabling outstanding quality testing of the entire central nervous system, the thoracic-abdominal area, and of articulations.
Special care has been dedicated to Breast Pathologies with two independent “dedicated diagnostics” sections also equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The service provides different procedure paths for hospitalized patients and external customers.

Nuclear Medicine
This service can rely on highly advanced equipment enabling the examination of morphologic/functional aspects of an organ or apparatus. It has a very important role in emergency diagnosis of suspect pulmonary thromboembolism and a complementary role in the vast majority of complex diagnostics and treatments. Such a highly technologically advanced area as this must be equipped with a PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scanner, providing increased diagnostic accuracy in areas such as cardiac, neurology and, particularly, oncology.

Acute-care Cardiology
The Cardiovascular Department is MultiMedica Group’s elected sector, capable of providing the most advanced cardiovascular diagnostic and treatment solutions by leveraging its rich research background. The three Operating Units constantly collaborating and working as a team are:
• Cardiac surgery
• Cardiology
• Vascular Surgery

The Department has 4 angiography examination rooms (Hemodynamics, Electrophysiology, Peripheral Angiography) equipped with the most advanced systems available today. These investments in technology have enabled increased effectiveness and high security standards in a sector as complex as Acute-Care Cardiology and Acute-Care Radiology. The Cardiac Surgery Unit is capable of ensuring the performance of coronarography, routine as well as acute heart-failure stent-angioplasties (primary angioplasty), in addition to Pacemaker implants, implantable defibrillators and ablative arrhythmia therapy.
Furthermore it has the ability to work on the most complex problems regarding peripheral vessel stenoses (carotid, renal, femoral, etc.) with revascularization through angioplasty routines, with or without stenting.

Operating Rooms
13 multi-specialty operating rooms, two steam and plasma sterilization units, streamlined design of clean/dirty procedures, 20 air changes/hour and strict environmental controls scheduled on a regular basis: MultiMedica Group is very proud of its Operating Rooms which are often the site of complex surgical procedures in areas including general, cardiac, vascular, urological, orthopedic, reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery.
Renowned surgeons are supported by their highly qualified medical teams and leading edge technology.
For example, with the Pathological Anatomy Tele-consultation, a real-time connection is established between the operating room and MultiLab to respond to intra-operation diagnostic emergencies/urgencies when necessary. Remote-diagnosis enables to directly deliver to the operating room cytological and/or histological diagnoses shared by a number of specialists, enabling remote consultations between colleagues and experts removing barriers such as distance, time zones or any other time-place related issues. This helps provide patients with highly qualified and comprehensive care, greatly limiting the possibilities of error and/or inaccuracies in defining complex injuries.

Pathological Anatomy and Laboratory Diagnostics
MultiLab is the Laboratory Pathology and Medicine Department serving, in outsourcing mode, all hospital and multi-specialty ambulatory facilities of MultiMedica Group as well as other small/mid sized laboratories and third party private or public hospital facilities.

By leveraging next generation technologies and equipment, MultiLab can offer:
Laboratory and cyto/histo/pathology services
♦ Continuous diagnostic support for emergency management (in the Emergency Room and at the hospitalized Patient's bedside)
Pathological Anatomy tele-consulting, real-time second opinions on intra-procedure examinations, complex cytological and/or histological cases.

The Oncology Department
The MultiMedica Group’s Oncology Department can rely on three different approaches: Surgery, Medical Oncology and Radiotherapy.
Starting from the group’s inception to today, the oncologic activity gradually increased and developed based on state of the art fundamentals, becoming one of the elected specialties of our facilities. Therefore, the availability of Radiotherapy within the Castellanza Hospital Facility not only means providing complete therapeutic treatment for our patients, but also represents a tangible response to the territory’s true requirements.
