Breast Unit answers

A new service dedicated to patients of our Breast Unit is now active.

The service offers a clinical, psychological and social support to Breast Unit patients throughout their treatment, from diagnosis to follow-up, through the provision of two e-mail boxes and subsequent telephone contact by the professional..

Through these information channels, patients will have an important point of reference at the MultiMedica Group’s hospital facilities, receiving precise and qualified answers to their questions and doubts, both from a clinical point of view and for psycho-social needs.

The first channel is dedicated to clinical care. Patients will be able to submit their questions to specialists, without having to go to the hospital, by writing an email or calling the dedicated numbers. To respond to the clinical need, patients will be contacted directly by dr. Bettina Ballardini, Director of Senological Surgery and Director of the Breast Unit of the MultiMedica Group, by dr. Giorgio Macellari, Senological Surgeon of the Breast Unit of the San Giuseppe Hospital, and the nurses of the Senology Center, Annalisa Mocciardini and Patrizia Carnieletto for the P.O. Santa Maria di Castellanza and Sabina Suriano for the IRCCS of Sesto San Giovanni and the San Giuseppe Hospital of Milan.

The service is active from Monday to Friday, with a maximum response time of 48 hours after receiving the email.

The second channel offers a psycho-social service. Patients can be supported by dr.ssa Azzurra Cangiano, psychologist of the Breast Unit of the Multimedica group, and dr.ssa Tatiana Bracone, social worker of IRCCS MultiMedica and contact person of the Corporate Health Management, who will answer both for psychological and social-health needs.

The path of psychological support is therefore integrated with the social one, offering women who recognize the need for it indications for social-healthcare practices or to “link” them to the network of territorial services. They will also be supported in the management of the bureaucratic practices they have to face in all the phases of their path (and after the recovery), which often represent for them a reason of stress and discomfort.

A service, therefore, that will allow us to guarantee patients and the patients of the Senology Centre a 360° support, thanks to a valid multidisciplinary team, ensuring them vicinity and a continuity of care, despite the “distance” still needed at this particular time.
